Mary Moore

Mary spent a very happy childhood during the great depression of the 1930s as her father was never unemployed. Entertainments were usually "home made" and generally very creative. Books were the very breath oflife to the whole family who were all avid readers

She left school with good reports but went on to take the Northern Counties certificates in English and Comercial arithmetic and obtained a book keeping qualification. Her first job was a cashier but in 1942, Mary was conscripted into the ATS and ended her war service as a Sgt. Clerk.

Mary married in 1944 and her daughter was born in 1947. Sadly, Mary's first husband died in 1957. Following his death Mary entered the Local Government Service and worked there for 23 years but left when her second husband was dying.

Mary's interest in writing stems from when she was growing up as her whole family have been writers. Mary's special interest is reading Social History and researching odd subjects that crop up from there. She's particularly interested in the English Civil war, and Charles the First vs Parliament.

Her favourtie words are "Why?" "How?" and "There must be a reason!" Mary's other hobbies include Painting, drawing and craft work.
